History
Russian State University of Humanities was established on March 27, 1991, emerging from the post-Soviet transition period. Despite its young age, the institution has rapidly become one of Russia’s leading universities in humanities and social sciences. The university developed with clear educational purposes: providing students research skills and necessary competencies through balanced combination of fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical training approaches. The faculty comprises more than 70 academics and corresponding members from Russian and foreign academies, more than 200 doctors of science, and more than 500 scientists advancing knowledge across disciplines. The institution gained recognition as a leader in humanities and social sciences through commitment to rigorous scholarship and innovative pedagogy. The university maintains more than 250 cooperation agreements with leading foreign universities and research institutions, facilitating extensive international academic exchange. Hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students annually study at leading European and world universities through exchange programs. The university’s Science Library ranks among Russia’s leading university libraries, supporting advanced research and learning.
