History
Russian University of Technology was established after World War II to serve thousands of military personnel and laborers seeking new specializations or improved skills through distance education. During the Great Patriotic War, millions of working-age citizens lost their previous employment and required retraining. Distance education became the primary pathway for acquiring professional competencies during this period. Over time, the institution evolved into a modern education and research center recognized throughout Russia and internationally. The university combines classical academic traditions with contemporary educational technologies. From its inception, the institute was designed as the largest educational institution in the country, reflecting the scale of post-war reconstruction needs. Throughout its history, the university has continuously adapted its curriculum to meet national demands for engineering specialists. This commitment to innovation and responsiveness to societal needs established RUT as a leading technical education provider serving Russia’s industrial and scientific development.
