History
Russian State Pedagogical University was founded in 1797, establishing itself as one of Russia’s oldest and largest educational institutions. The university developed into a comprehensive pedagogical and scientific center serving Russian education for over two centuries. Throughout its history, the institution maintained commitment to teacher training and educational excellence. In 1993, the university became one of Russia’s first institutions introducing a multilevel higher education system combining undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university expanded to encompass more than 20 faculties and 100 departments serving diverse educational fields. The institution established specialized institutes including the Institute of Pre-University Education, Institute of Advanced Studies and Retraining, Research Institute of Continuing Education, Institute of Natural Sciences, and Institute of Humanitarian Education. Today, the university trains specialists across more than 30 specialties. Approximately 20,000 students pursue education across multiple disciplines. The institution maintains contractual relations with 60 foreign universities across USA, England, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Finland, China, Korea, Israel, Japan, and other countries.
